About The Machine

Clean, Consistent Cuts — Built for Airbag Safety

Designed for precision and reliability, the SPM Airbag Cutting Machine is a Special Purpose Machine (SPM) engineered specifically for cutting airbag. With a robust Gantry Motion System and CO2 laser technology, this system ensures clean, consistent cuts critical to the safety demands of automotive airbag production.

The machine runs on an SLTL make Sigma Controller with a script-based program and Mark Pro software, with an SLTL metal tube CO2 laser, Cleanex fume extraction, Meanwell SMPS and Siemens/Schneider ELCB. It delivers precise laser cutting and perforating in a single operation without refitting, all holes processed are clean and discoloration free, and the fully protected cutting space is compliant with stringent safety regulations and intelligent functions.

3 different airbags can be processed with different fixtures and programming (in-built) with easy changeover
Selector Switch — modify the program for different types of airbags, to turn on/off and accordingly authorize the changes in the fixture plate
Cutting the first layer of the airbag without affecting the bottom layer
g-347 graphite plate inserted in between both the layers to save the lower layer while processing layer 1
Fixture need not to be changed — moved upward-down to process a different type of airbag
Two-sided nozzle head for quick working, with a modified scrap collection bin for easy usage

This is a Special Purpose Machine built around the customer's job. The fixture, the in-built program and the dwelling change with the airbag model; the gantry motion system, the CO2 laser source, the Sigma controller and the safety enclosure stay the same.

Three Airbag Models, One Machine

3 different airbags can be processed with different fixtures and programming (in-built) with easy changeover. Different dwelling for different types of jobs gives easy changeover automatically, and the fixture need not be changed — it moves upward-down to process a different type of airbag.

Core Capabilities

Sequence of Operation

From opening Mark Pro to unloading the finished airbag, the cycle runs in auto mode with manual loading and unloading.

Open Mark Pro Software

The operator starts the cycle by opening the Mark Pro software on the machine's computer system.

Select Auto or Manual Mode

Auto runs the production cycle; manual is used for operational testing and setup under supervisor observation.

Manually Load the Job

The airbag is manually loaded on the fixture, with the job present sensor confirming placement.

Press Cycle Start

The cycle start button is pressed and the laser cutting process starts with the help of the axis system.

Laser Cutting Completes

The gantry completes the cutting operation, then the axis system automatically moves to the homing position.

Unload the Job

The job is unloaded manually and scrap drops through the chute into the scrap collection tray.
